Hours
(3) ten hour shifts
*Shifts start at 6am and include one weekend day. You may be asked to work additional hours.
About the Job
As Press Operator you would be responsible for operating and maintaining our digital printing presses, including our HP Indigo 7900. This position is primarily a press operator position, but you will need to develop a strong foundation in both printing and finishing as you will be working in both departments on a regular basis.
Pay
Starting at $18/hour
Print Responsibilities
- Check that jobs are set up correctly for print
- Perform press maintenance
- Perform press troubleshooting and repair
- Complete short run print projects
- Inspect prints to make sure that they meet quality standards
- Manage paper inventory
- Order paper and other supplies and inventory
- Work with vendors to place orders and schedule repairs
- Communicate with other staff members/departments about print project specifications and issues or delays
- Print finishing work (cutting, binding, etc) and packing as needed
- Assist other departments as needed
- Clean up and general maintenance
Print Finishing Responsibilities
- Cutting on Large Commercial Paper Cutters
- Packing
- Drilling
- Corner Rounding
- Operation of Various Book Binding Equipment
- Folding Machine Operation
- Operation of Various Automated Finishing Machines
- UV Coater Operation
- Collating
- Clean Up of both the production area and the workspace as a whole
- General Maintenance of Machines
- General Finishing Work
- Assisting with large format printing and projects including printing, mounting, weeding, etc.
- Preparing jobs for shipment, delivery and pickup, and making sure they’re completed on time
- Assisting customers with pickups of completed jobs
- Assisting when needed with digital printing and deliveries
- Dealing with UPS and other shipping companies, contacting vendors, contacting repair companies, etc.
Necessary Skills
- A good sense of urgency, quality, organization, prioritization, and the ability to work with deadlines
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work quickly
- Ability to work independently
- High level of comfort working with machines
- Good troubleshooting instincts
- Willingness to effectively communicate with others both verbally and in writing
- Moderate level of aptitude with computers
- Basic math skills and ability to read measurements on a ruler
- Ability to travel for off-site training
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Prior HP Indigo experience is a plus
- Prior Print Shop experience is a plus
- Experience with Adobe Suite is a plus
